Family Register

In Japan, the family register, or census register system, acts as a record of births, deaths, marriages and divorces, and as proof of status in these areas. When foreigners living in Japan give birth, pass away, marry or divorce, the City Office must be notified in accordance with the regulations of the Family Registration Act.
